Nutrition Scientist

We are looking for a Nutrition Scientist for the Research team, who will report to the Research Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for advancing scientific excellence in pet nutrition by managing innovative research programs that bridge science and product innovation. Passionate about generating evidence-based insights into cat and dog's nutrition and ingredient functionality, fostering collaborations with international research institutions, and translating scientific findings into practical applications that enhance product development, nutritional guidelines, and sustainability initiatives.

What you will do?

• Manage research projects within Affinity research programs and budget, developed internally or contracted with Universities or research centres
• Work on developing food and ingredient science, testing new ingredients, developing new methodologies, performing strong scientific reviews.
• Ability to prepare new nutrition guidelines and technical positions of the company.
• Establish and maintain partnership with international research institutions and key opinion leaders.
• Present Affinity scientific communications to scientific congress and journals.
• Support Technical Communication in passing the information from research projects to new product development team and marketing.

What we are looking for?

• Degree in biological sciences (biology, medicine, human and animal nutrition, food and animal science…) and PhD, related with pet nutrition, molecular biology, or food science.
• Proven experience in Petfood nutrition business, ideally with more than 2 years in a related or equivalent position.
• Have a demonstrated good knowledge on in vitro trials methodology and designing research projects. At least three scientific research papers authored.
• Fluent in English. Spanish, French or Italian are highly desirable.
• Availability to travel across our different locations and Research Partners.

Essential Skills:

1. Strong foundation in Animal Nutrition Science (In-depth knowledge of pet physiology, metabolism, and dietary requirements for different species and life stages).

2. Sustainability expertise, research and analytical skills, interdisciplinary knowledge (a grasp of chemistry, biology, agronomy, biotechnology, and supply chain management).

3. Regulatory knowledge (Understanding of food safety and environmental regulations in the pet food industry).
