Our client is a global leader in online marketplaces and which offers the best solutions and services for their users.
As a Senior Software Engineer - Backend, you will help build state of the art systems and data infrastructure to power the company's digital transformation. Data from over a hundred of diverse sites will power great user features for the media and classified sites. This is a unique opportunity to help design, build, and scale a brand new data infrastructure system to power everything from better article and classified recommendations to more relevant ads, as well as build production systems that improve user experience.
Responsibilities:
-Together with the team and multiple stakeholders within the company, define and design data infrastructure and distributed systems.
-Develop and implement systems using the best development practices and tools.
-Help define our development environment, and communicate the best development practices within the organization (i.e. code reviews, testing, etc).
-Continuously monitor the quality of the systems, design measurements to monitor their health (both the engineering systems and data quality).
-Keep on top of the latest and greatest developments in the cloud, distributed systems, and data science fields.
-Work closely with other teams (data science, product, UX, business) to drive product development.
We are looking for a person with the following qualifications, experience and skills:
-You’re fluent in multiple development languages (static and dynamic), and interested in learning more.
-You have a deep understanding of systems design, algorithms, and data structures.
-You have experience developing on Linux.
-The cloud is your friend. Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or any proprietary clouds. Experience with Puppet, Chef, etc.
-Experience with distributed computing technologies
-Experience with some of the “big data” technologies like MapReduce, Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, Cassandra, large scale storage systems
-You are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders from different parts of the organization toward a consensus.
